We are partnering with an organization that is building an internet capital market for insurance risk, using blockchain infrastructure to connect capital with reinsurance opportunities. Its model is built around real reinsurance treaties, verifiable premiums, fully collateralized capital, and disciplined risk limits.

The Role

The company is seeking a Pricing & Reserving Actuary with reinsurance experience to support the analysis and management of its insurance risk. This individual will bring pricing and reserving expertise to a technology-driven environment, developing models and insights that help assess risk, evaluate performance, and inform underwriting and capital decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain pricing models for reinsurance business, assessing expected loss, expenses, risk loads, and overall profitability.
\n
• Perform reserving analyses, including estimates of ultimate losses, reserve adequacy, and portfolio development.
\n
• Analyze treaty, exposure, premium, claims, and loss data to identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities.
\n
• Build and improve actuarial models, tools, and processes to support pricing, reserving, and portfolio monitoring.
\n
• Translate complex actuarial findings into clear recommendations for underwriting, leadership, and other stakeholders.
\n
• Work closely with engineering and product teams to support the development of technology-enabled actuarial workflows and risk analytics.
\n
• Contribute to a rigorous approach to underwriting, risk selection, and capital deployment as the business grows.

Experience & Qualifications

\n
• Direct reinsurance experience is required.
\n
• Experience in both pricing and reserving is required, ideally within reinsurance.
\n
• Strong actuarial modeling and analytical skills, including the ability to work with complex insurance data.
\n
• Comfortable working with technology and collaborating with technical teams in a fast-moving environment.
\n
• Ability to communicate actuarial analysis clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
\n
• Based in the New York area, with a remote/hybrid arrangement currently available.
